All three Olympians of Laos have proudly completed their events in the London 2012 Olympics with some good results. All three athletes managed to beat some of their competitors, with swimmer Phathana Inthavong even coming second in his heat. See videos of the events below:
Phathana Inthavong took second place in the Men’s 50 Freestyle Heats, Heat 1 against Christian Nassif from Central African Republic, and beating Wilfried Tevoedjre from Benin. Phathana’s time was 28.17, beating his own personal best time of 28.94. He was the youngest swimmer in the games.
Kilakone Siphonexay represented Laos for track in the Men’s 100m Preliminaries, Heat 1, coming 6th and beating Christopher Lima Da Costa from São Tomé and Príncipe.
Laenly Phoutthavong represented Laos in the Women’s 100m Preliminaries, Heat 3. She came 6th out of a total of 8 athletes. Noor Hussain Al-Malki of Qatar failed to finish the heat because of injury and Laenly managed to also beat Rubie Joy Gabriel of Palau.
